OBJECTIVE CORRELATIVES
OBJECTIVE CORRELATIVES takes its title from the idea that emotions can be generated through a carefully arranged set of external conditions. Inspired in part by discussions of method acting and the mechanics of performance, the project explores how objects, images and language can function as emotional triggers rather than as illustrations of feeling.
Many of the works begin with accidental discoveries in language: hidden words within words, distorted sayings, misheard phrases and playful linguistic collisions. These fragments act as starting points from which visual relationships emerge, setting off chains of association that are both comic and unsettling.
The project is structured around binary relationships. Attraction and repulsion, tenderness and aggression, desire and fear, predator and prey appear repeatedly throughout the work. Animal skins, found imagery, typography and symbolic objects are brought together not to tell stories directly but to stage encounters between opposing forces.
OBJECTIVE CORRELATIVES provides an atmospheric backdrop rather than a narrative framework. The works borrow from the world of fables, folklore and archetypes, creating images that feel simultaneously familiar and strange. Their tone often resembles an adult nursery rhyme: seductive, absurd, humorous and occasionally violent.
